Newest little painting that I just completed. It is of a de Havilland Tiger Moth bi-planeĀ  viewed from under the wing of a Piper Cub above farm fields. Both planes are considered easy to fly and were used as trainers in their respective countries. This painting is oil on canvas and is 11″h 14″w.

I just found out that I got two paintings into this year’s upcoming ASAA (American Society of Aviation Artists) Exhibit in the National Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola, FL. The two entries are “Taylorcarft Heading Home” and “Afternoon Delights.” Both are 18″h x 24″w and are oil on canvas.

Birds of Paradise - Pati O'Neal

This painting, Birds of Paradise, was done as a commission for a lovely couple from Alaska as a gift for their friend. It is a companion piece to one that I did last year, ‘Awapuhi ‘Ula’ula.

Both paintings are 12″ w x 24″h, oil on canvas and framed in black with a thin gold leaf liner. For these tropical floral paintings, I often go out to various gardens and go hiking for inspiration and photographs. I was fortunate in being able to find both of these in my mother’s yard.

Kahana Bay Splendor - Pati O'Neal

One of my earliest memories is of going to the beach at Kahana Bay. Located on the east side or windward side of Oahu, this beach has sugary fine sand with gently lapping waves, a perfect choice for small children. The beach park has lots of shade from Ironwood and Hau trees making it also a great choice for picnicking and camping. There is a hiking trail across the road on the mountain side that leads into Kahana Valley. The view across the bay is the subject of this recent painting called Kahana Bay Splendor. It is 18″h x 36″w oil on canvas.

This is the fourth in a series of paintings that I have done of the campus at Punahou Schools. This is called “The Chapel and Pond”. It is 12″h x 16″w and is oil on canvas. Now that I have four of them, I might consider doing a set of note cards.
